Terrain Studio

Your information

Updated 23 October 2026. Terrain Studio is responsible for the customer information described here. For privacy questions or requests, email info@terrainstudio.co.uk.

Saving your frame

When you hold a plate at the end of the frame preview, we store your email alongside your selected map area, coordinates, width, orientation, entered place or postcode, and design choices. We link this saved frame to your order when you continue on the same browser. Saving a frame does not subscribe you to marketing emails. If you also tick “Send me the odd reminder and offer”, we will occasionally email you reminders and offers. We record when you agreed and the words you agreed to. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us, and we stop.

Ordering a print

We keep your name, email, delivery details, artwork choices, order reference, payment status and customer-service correspondence so we can prepare, deliver and support your purchase. Stripe handles card details; Terrain Studio does not store your full card number or security code. Order updates are sent by email.

Running the site

We record design-session events, chosen locations and areas, and technical logs to understand problems and operate the Studio. We use browser storage to keep your design between visits. A saved-frame cookie lasts up to 30 days, and the email-prefill cookie up to one day. An access cookie supports site administration. You can clear these in your browser, but your saved design may no longer reconnect automatically.

Measuring visits and adverts

We keep our own statistics on how the site is used: a visitor identifier kept for up to a year, the pages you view, the design choices you make in the Studio, and which advert or link brought you, if any. These stay with us and are used only to understand and improve the site. When you first visit we also ask whether we may use advertising and recording tools. If you accept, Meta’s pixel measures our Meta adverts, and when you pay we tell Meta about the purchase with your email address in a scrambled (hashed) form so it can be matched to the advert; Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, including mouse movements and scrolling. If you choose “No thanks”, neither of those loads and our own statistics stop too. The Studio and ordering work exactly the same either way. To change your answer, clear this site’s cookies and you will be asked again.

Why we use it

We use information to provide the saved design or purchase you request, to meet legal record-keeping duties, and for our legitimate interests in supporting customers, improving the Studio and preventing misuse.

Services that help us

Our providers include Supabase for customer and order records, Stripe for payments, Resend for order emails, Prodigi and delivery carriers for printing and delivery, OVHcloud for hosting, Cloudflare for site and email services, Meta and Microsoft Clarity for measurement if you accept it, and Slack for internal order and operational notifications. We share the information needed for those services. Some providers process information internationally; contact us for details about the processing and transfer arrangements for your information.

Keeping and deleting information

We retain saved frames while needed to support your requested design, and order and correspondence records while needed for fulfilment, customer support, accounting and disputes. Technical records are kept for operational troubleshooting and security. We consider the purpose and any legal retention requirements when reviewing a deletion request.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access or correct your information, request deletion, restrict or object to its use, or receive a portable copy where those rights apply. We may need to verify your identity. We do not use solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects; prints receive human review before payment is taken.
